Same place wrong time

Playing with Syd is so much fun. Her little laugh is contagious and her smile melts my heart. A couple of days ago was no exception for me, her story might be different.

I had just gotten ready for the day and was making my bed when she said, "Mom chase me to my room".

Okay I thought, and I inched very quietly toward her. As I got closer I turned and pretended like I was going to get her. She took off running! The only problem is that she and the doorframe were in the same place at the wrong time. It happened so fast all I could do was watch and then scoop up my crying sweetheart. Poor Syd has a big goose egg on her forehead that is black and blue (althought the butter I smeared on it kept it from getting huge, weird I know but it works!).

Today she is no worse for wear and all smiles again. Of course I didn't think to get a picture of the head injury but found a cute one of my girl anyway.

Butter? Are you serious? I wish I had known that. My Syd has a perma bump on her forehead from a wading pool fall in Seattle.

You never stop teaching me things. We could take out stock in Butter shares with the head bumps Henry gets- I'm gonna put that new found knowledge to good use! I'm sorry Syd got hurt, good thing kids are so tuff. Good for you for playing with her in the moment though.

Ok, so I've never heard of the butter trick. Can it be margarine or does it need to be real butter? How much do you put on? I must put this in my memory file for future goose eggs! Cute pic!

Oh I just love when you update your blog! Thanks for the butter tip - that is so valuable! I hope to not have to try it of course :) I have often found our kids get hurt often when they are hyper, playing, or wild!
